Emergency Care Practitioner

ECPs support the daily on-call team, providing an ‘on-the-day’ emergency service for patients. This role involves the assessment, diagnosis, treatment or referral of patients presenting with undifferentiated and undiagnosed conditions.

ECPs are required to respond to various sources including:

  • Patients
  • Care homes
  • General Practitioners
  • 111 and Out of Hours

Entry requirements:

  • Completion of an Emergency Practitioner course which is usually made up of two CPD modules which can be studied at either level 3 (Degree) or Level M (Masters).

To get onto the course you must be a registered healthcare professional and have access to a relevant practice environment in order to meet the learning outcomes of the module. You must also have relevant named mentor within the practice environment.
