ECPs are qualified paramedics who have acquired an additional set of skills through work experience and further training. Their work within primary care supports the daily on call team by assessing and triaging patients and providing definite treatment, including prescribing medication.
ECPs role includes:
- Either undertaking home visits to assess patients or consulting patients at the surgery
- Performing specialist health checks and reviews
- Performing and interpreting ECGs, undertaking investigatory procedures or collection of pathological specimens
Entry requirements:
- A degree in Paramedic Science
- Completion of Emergency Practitioner or Specialist Paramedic course
- Current Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration
