NHS North East Essex CCG currently has 35 practices with a patient population of 351,766. There are 4 primary care networks and 10 independent practices that have not yet joined a “working at scale” organisation.

These networks are groups of practices that have joined forces to achieve efficiencies and share expertise. Alongside these there are 20 training practices in North East Essex.

We are piloting various schemes to develop primary care teams, such as employing clinical pharmacists, paramedics to do home visits and mental health nurses based in GP practices. First contact practitioner schemes including practice based MKS specialists to help release GP time and reduce acute referrals.  We are also in the planning stages of rolling out social prescribing across all practices to free up clinicians’ time.
