Here at Thurrock CCG we work closely as a system with our primary care, community, third sector and council providers as well as with mental health and social care. We are ahead of the curve on this across our patch.
We have four new Integrated Medical Centres being built which will bring all of the local services together and serve as a 21st Century primary care, secondary can and diagnostic centre, as well as serving wellbeing, leisure and social needs.
We currently have 31 practices with a population of 175,997 registered with a GP. Our teams are multi-disciplinary working in primary care, including physiotherapists, mental health support, Advanced Care practitioners, Physician Associates and Pharmacists. Our multi-disciplinary teams are helping to increase the number of appointments and see more patients.
Thurrock CCG is also part of the Mid and South Essex Training Hub. The role of the Hub is to provide a system-wide co-ordinated approach to delivering an integrated multi-professional workforce able to best meet the needs of its local population and to support delivery of the workforce initiatives set out by the GP Five Year Forward View.
The Mid and South Essex Training Hub will enable local leadership for workforce development, education and training and new way of organising the management of learning in Primary Care.
The Training Hub provides more opportunities to work with universities, other STPs and Local Workforce Action Boards, local secondary care providers and the GP School to align the funding and commissioning of education for primary care is a central aim.
The Training Hub acts as a single point of access for GPs who are able to discuss various opportunities available to them. A dedicated NHS.net email address that has been created for individuals to make initial contact with
