Dispensers are usually required by GP practices located in rural areas with limited access to a community pharmacy. Dispensers assist with the preparation and supply of medication to patients.
Your role may involve:
- Dispensing medication to patients safely and in accordance with regulations
- Disposal of returned medication
- Ordering medication into the surgery
- Maintaining the dispensary and stock
- Serving customers and dealing with enquiries
You might be suited to a Dispenser role if you are:
- Organised and methodical
- Accurate with great attention to detail
- Able to follow processes and protocols
- Good at working in a team and with the public
- Able to adhere to patient confidentiality at all times
- Able to work to deadlines
- Comfortable using a variety of medical terminology
Entry requirements and skills:
- Good numeracy, literacy and IT skills
- Minimum 4 GCSEs (inc. Maths, English and Science Grade 9 to 4 /A* to C) or equivalent
- Completion of a recognised qualification in Pharmaceutical Science or Pharmacy Services (eg, BTEC or NVQ)
