Are you an overseas GP looking to relocate to the UK? Or perhaps you’re already in the country and looking for support with preparation for your first GP role?
The Mid and South Essex Sustainability Transformation Partnership consisting of five Clinical Commissioning Groups (Basildon and Brentwood, Castle Point and Rochford, Mid Essex, Southend CCG and Thurrock CCG) is one of two national pilot sites in the country for International GP Recruitment. We are experienced in recruiting international candidates and provide first class support to ensure you’re ready and confident for independent practice within one of our local GP surgeries.
International candidates are offered:
- A relocation package of £5,000
- Pastoral support with relocating to Essex
- A net salary of £3,000 per month whilst on the preparatory phase
- A net salary of £3,500 per month whilst on the Induction and Refresher Scheme phase
- Contribution towards Medical Indemnity insurance whilst on the scheme
- Educational support to obtain UK Medical Performer’s List status
Upon successful completion of the programme and acceptance onto the UK Medical Performer’s List (with no conditions), you will be offered a competitive salary of £65,000 (gross) in year 1 and £75,000 (gross) in year 2.
In order to support you on your journey to independent practice, you will be assigned a GP supervisor who will support you with:
- Opportunities to observe consultations and clinical procedures
- Participation in case based discussions
- Protected tutorial time each week
- Opportunities to participate in a rotational programme which includes spending time with the Out of Hours, hospital discharge team, district nursing and community teams aligned to the employing practice
- Undertaking scheduled appointments for you to see patients with the supervisor present to allow time to focus on consultation techniques
With our help, you will gain the required skills and experience to take you through the key two stages of the International Recruitment programme:
Stage One
Preparatory Phase – This phase can last approximately six months subject to passing assessments first time
During this phase, you will be expected to gain the appropriate skills to enable you to:
- Prepare for and pass the Multiple Choice Questionnaire (MCQ)
- Prepare for and pass the Simulated Surgery
Candidates who successfully pass Stage One, will be ready to embark on stage 2, the Induction and Refresher Scheme phase, normally lasting up to six months.
Stage Two
Induction and Refresher Scheme – This phase can last up to six months
During this phase, you will be expected to:
- Be accepted onto the UK Medical Performer’s List (with conditions) to enable you to host your own clinical surgeries
- Satisfactorily complete Work Place Based Assessment report which includes multi-source feedback and patient satisfaction questionnaire.
In order to apply onto the programme you will need to evidence:
- GMC Registration
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 7/7.5
- Eligibility to work in the UK
- Capable of joining the UK’s Medical Performers List
- Experience of working in General Practice in a Primary Care system similar to that of the UK
- Comprehensive compulsory evidence based General Practice Vocational Training (GPVT)
- Daily exposure to the GP work in Europe
